The messages contained in the Misconceptions piece may seem subtle, but remember, this is not a scripted Hollywood movie; this is real, and there is a heavy history behind the messages that the Grand Elder of Maya, Wandering Wolf, is sharing with us. It has taken 5 years and much sacrifice from many good people to help make the Shift of the Ages project possible. Tata and Titicaca is not only fun to say, it is a video that holds a special energy and message. The footage was shot in 2006 on the original Shift of the Ages shoot while the crew documented Wandering Wolf’s journey to recover the Sacred Mayan Staff of Authority for his people of Guatemala. At the time, Guatemala had still not formally recognized its indigenous population even though about half of the country are Indigenous Maya. A bloody civil war had recently ended leaving behind deep wounds of racism. Wandering Wolf felt that the recovery of the Staff could help rally Mayan voters to support the presidential campaign of his disciple and Mayan Elder, Alvaro Colom, who was promising equal rights if he won the race in 2007. It was a gamble because many Maya people felt powerless against the political system that did not even acknowledge their existence. On September 9, 2007, Colom was declared the newly elected president by over five percentage points, 52.7% to 47.3%, with over 96 percent of polling places counted, becoming Guatemala's first left-leaning president in 53 years.

While in Boliva, South America, we were invited to the Islands of the Moon and Sun to meet the Aymaran Elders and do ceremony for the healing of Mother Earth and the successful recovery of the Staff from a rogue Aymaran Spirit Guide that had procession of it for the last seven years. While traveling to the Islands, we interviewed a special friend, Rosse Mary, about Lake Titicaca, Wandering Wolf, and the Shift of the Ages. She shared many sacred sites and ancient stories with us on our magical journey. Even though the “Tata and Titicaca” video is not a direct message from Wandering Wolf, it carries his energy. The raw video from this shoot has been shared at gatherings, lectures, meetings, and screenings since 2006. We are happy to bring the edited “Tata and Titicaca” to you now!

About the Video

One of the Prophecies we hear Wandering Wolf sharing frequently is the Prophecy of the Eagle and the Condor. What’s interesting about this prophecy is that many Native Nations from North to South America have similar stories about the re-unification of these two sacred birds. According to Wandering Wolf “Those of the Center will unite the Eagle of the North with the Condor of the South; we will come together with our brothers and sisters and fly in the same sky because we are one, like the fingers of the hand.” For Wandering Wolf, the “Center” represents the Maya people from Central America, and it is ultimately their role to bridge solidarity between the North American Eagle and the South American Condor. A quick Google search regarding the meaning of this prophecy yields diverse results. Most agree that the Eagle represents the mind and Condor the heart.

Since becoming an Elder at 52 years of age, Wandering Wolf has worked diligently to play his part in the fulfillment of the Eagle and Condor Prophecy. For about the last 30 or so years he has traveled around the world sharing his powerful words and prayers. After a 20 day shoot in Central America in 2006, the Shift of the Ages crew headed to South America in mission to help Wandering Wolf recover the Maya’s Sacred Staff of Authority from an Aymaran Elder who had possession of it in Bolivia. Before work started in South America, it was important for Wandering Wolf to be received by an Elder of the land. Initially we had problems locating a respected Elder able to receive the Maya, but fate had its’ way. The meeting between the Incan and Mayan Elders was remarkable in that both Elders received physical signs before coming in contact with each other. It was if the two were destined to meet, guided to be in the same place at the same time. The fire of the Maya was received by the Inca in the highlands of Peru, and a ceremony was performed to unify the Eagle and the Condor and bring peace back to Mother Earth.

Shoeshine Boy

"Shoeshine Boy" is a video clip offering a window into the early life of Wandering Wolf, and tells how an uneducated illiterate shoeshine boy learned some of the tools necessary to make change in governing western policy. Although he speaks Spanish, Wandering Wolf's native tongue is Quiche Maya so he had to learn Spanish on his own. Even though he has no formal education, today Wandering Wolf is not only the current President of Mayan Council of Guatemala, he is also serving his people as Guatemala's first ever Extraordinary Itinerant Ambassador
