VEGANS AND CHOCOLATE

This is a story for chocolate lovers, animal lovers and vegans everywhere. Rescue Chocolate, the vegan chocolate company that donates 100 percent of its profits to animal rescue organizations has selected House Rabbit Society has its beneficiary for April – in honor of Easter.

House Rabbit Society (HRS) is an international non-profit organization that rescues rabbits from animal shelters and educates the public about rabbit care and behavior. The group which is headquartered out of Richmond, California has licensed chapters throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe.

“We chose April as the month to spotlight this group because of Easter. And Easter is when people think about rabbits as pets,” said Rescue Chocolate founder Sarah Gross in a press release. “But of course you can’t throw away the bunnies when the holiday is over. Having a bunny as a pet is a long-term commitment and HRS as a group emphasizes that fact to the public.”

HRS has launched a campaign called “Make Mine Chocolate” which encourages people to buy chocolate as an Easter gift, rather than a live rabbit.

As part of its Easter partnership with HRS, Rescue Chocolate has added a pair of new products. There is a dark chocolate bunny with a purple bow and a dark chocolate Easter egg.

Year round Rescue Chocolate offers kosher and vegan chocolate bars and truffles. Each flavor is named after an important issue in the animal rescue world. There are Peanut Butter Pit Bull bars, Mission Feral fig bars and Foster-iffic Peppermint.
