When in doubt, follow the path of your Heart

We all have been in situations that we weren’t sure which choice to make, or which path to take. Usually when this happens, we tend to get very mental over the sometimes intuitive knowing. To find out the doubt wasn’t there without reason in the first place. In doubt don’t do it, my mom’s advice I was told early on already.

You know what to do when you know what to do. There is this inner knowing, this sensation of what’s good or right to do. Only this will be heard when we are tuned in to it, instead of following all kinds of advice, or what the mind has to say about it.

You have this ability to learn through the life experiences what will work for you. What will assist you in making choices. So when you are in doubt, you learn through the experience of the choice you make. The way to understand this dynamic is by understanding the way the mind and the heart are working together. For some it is easier to connect with the heart and there for the intuition which is such a powerful tool for us to use.

Even when you make a choice that hasn’t the outcome you thought it would have, will carry the gift of understanding. Or maybe it is more about inner standing, to learn to trust that little voice within that gives you advice. Also that part of you that knows what to do best, even if it doesn’t seem the right way to do.

If you are like me you will learn the experience by hitting some wall three times before it dawned on me and shook me up. Luckily not always to the same extend, since I seem to learn from it every time a little only not yet enough to wake me up. I also came to the understanding that it had a lot to do with insecurity as well. Becoming secure with the inner signals so to speak, to learn they always hold the best interest of you at heart.

The less you get distracted by all the outer signals or people with their advice, the more you will be able to tune in with this inner knowing of the heart. Somehow, in the western world, we have lost this ability due to all those attractions we receive day after day. Our impressions are being fed with an overflow of information.

So how can we find our inner hearing and balance if we only learn to trust on the reflections of others? Or to just follow what the outside world teaches you, regardless of what your inner world has to say about it. Doubting is a wonderful tool which is being triggered because you are not aligned with your heart and mind. Someone told me a long time ago, you need to learn how to think with your heart and feel with your mind.

This was a wake-up call for me, because it allowed me to change my point of view so to speak. I knew I could come up with loads of logical reasons why I should make a choice in my life. Which would hold sound and valuable explanations to it, yet at the same time, it made me restless and doubting what to do. I learned to use this as my guide, the way I felt which didn’t resonated with the way I was thinking about an outcome.

We all need to learn somehow to step out of old patterns we have been building through childhood lessons, society, gender and race, education and whatever that we have been digesting. It gets in the way sometimes when we are stuck in some kind of belief system and are being challenged to step out of it. It has also a lot to do with the emotions attached to it.

Specifically when life throws you a curve ball and you have to figure out which way to go from there. If you are not sure which way to choose, take some time to figure it out. Don’t over haste decisions, even If people are pushing you to give them an answer right away. Just take time to overlook the situation and tell them you will get back to them.

This will give you the opportunity to see if heart and head are in the same place. Sometimes we have to get it clear pretty quickly. Yet when it comes to really old stuck patterns, that actually no longer serve you, it is not an easy fix or clear cut opportunity. To get some clarity it is good to check what makes you feel good or will make you happy. If you are having doubts or second thoughts about a decision you might have to make.

Take a step back. Try to see the challenge in a larger picture, as if you are flying a helicopter, which enables you to see more than just the ground lay out. This can make all the difference to make your choice from another perspective. To get out of your comfort zone, it is wise to regroup at times. Yet if you still have doubts about what to choose, follow your heart and go from there.

And so it will be done.
