Birds of a Feather Flock Together

“People of similar thoughts are attracted towards each other.”

“You are continually attracting towards you, from both the seen and the unseen sides of life-force, thoughts, influences and conditions most akin to those of your own thoughts and lines.”

Because thoughts travel and the energy the inspire within us emanates from our very being, we become attracted to people whose minds are similarly tuned to our collective thought waves.

 

“When we go and sit near a sage, we feel a unique calmness…”

Anyone who has spent time with a spiritual person can attest to this. The thoughts of a sage or swami are pure (sattvic), open, loving, blissful, compassionate and kind. The thought power of a sage can be so well tuned that their thoughts are overwhelmingly pure and so they transmit these thoughts to all those around them and the feelings they illicit.

 

“People of gloomy moods attract to themselves, gloomy things and gloomy thoughts from others …”

I have found this to be true with depression. When our moods are down, dark, fearful or sad, these become the thoughts that ruminate over and over in our minds. These thoughts cast a shadow around us and we gravitate toward the like-minded.

 

“Persons with hope, confidence and cheerful spirits attract thoughts of similar nature from others.”

Similarly, to negative thoughts, when we concentrate on joyous, serene and thoughts of being contempt, other of similar uplifting character are attracted to us and vice-a-versa.

 

“People with negative moods of depression, anger, and hatred do positive injury to others. They infect others and raise the destructive Vrittis* in others. They are culpable. They do great damage in the though-world.”

Depression and negative thoughts are not only harmful to us, but infact, also penetrate those around us. When the mind becomes stuck in negative thinking, we enter into a cycle of depression because we are putting out that energy and attracting like energy that keeps us depressed.

 

“As you think, so you become.”

Thoughts are a powerful force, that if controlled, can help us develop into stronger, healthier and more full beings. If we think love, then love we become. On the other hand, in the absence of thought control our mind runs wild and can lead us into depressive states. If you think I am depression, then depression you come.
