SPIRITUAL GUIDES

The first step to understanding beings from the spirit world is to first realise that, just because someone has passed over doesn't mean that they will automatically become an enlightened being. If they where rude and ignorant during their life in the physical world, then they will more than likely remain the same when they pass over to the spiritual dimensions. Likewise there's places in our own towns and cities that very few of us would visit on our own, or in the middle of the night. So it's important to be discerning in whom it is you make contact with, and how you make that contact. Just as you're intuition tells you to avoid certain people that you come into contact with in your daily life, the same applies when contacting people who have passed over. You do not have to tolerate rude ignorant people in the physical world and the same goes for beings from the spirit world. The secrete is always ask for guidance and protection from the highest and the best. It's also important when working with spirit to keep ones self physically and mentally healthy as this helps build a strong vibrant auric field which is essential in making contact with the higher beings of light.

Contacting the spiritual dimensions is not just for psychics. We can all benefit from contact with our spirit guides, They can inspire creativity, help us to achieve abundance, provide insight and information, protect us or stand by as a close loving friend in our times of need. Our guides do support and help us without our knowledge, but they are limited by how much they can do. It is up to us to raise our awareness and open our minds and hearts to receive the full benefit of their assistance and love.

Your spirit guides will make themselves known in a variety of subtle ways. Guides will always appear in whatever way makes you feel most comfortable.
The most common is through symbols, or touch on various parts of your body for example cobweb sensation brushing across ones face, or a tingle sensation in a particular part of the body. Some may present themselves as animals whilst others through sound colour, fragrance or taste. Some may appear as they once where in their physical life. Guides can be male or female and may or may not give their names.
Working with spirits means, work. Spirit guides aren't there for entertainment, or to impress people. Neither are they to act as a crutch or do everything for you, and it is important not to become too dependent on their advice. Your relationship with your spirit guide is a joint venture. Most advice comes with the option for change, to ones lifestyle, patterns of relating, negative thinking/ behaviour. Like all deeply ingrained habits some are more difficult than others to shift. Working on oneself shifts negative believe patterns and helps raise ones vibrational frequency to a higher level that is more in line with ones true self and the divinity of God. Having said this, don't' feel that you can't ask every day questions as well, your guides are there to help you no matter what you ask. So if you're having problems with a co-worker or finding it difficult to decide on whether to attend a social invitation, ask for advice.

There are many tools that can be used to develop ones psychic ability. Many psychics work with Tarot cards, Runes or Pendulums which can enhance ones intuitive connection. They can be used as a form of communication between the psychics and their guides. As you use these tools you will be drawn close to the spirit guides who are assisting you. As you begin to develop your confidence using these tools your guides will begin to make their presence known to you in a more physical sense. Often the link becomes so strong that many tarot readers only use the cards as a prop, the rest of the information comes via clairvoyance, clairaudiance or Clairknosis (sometimes called clairknowing, which is related to the top of the head and the crown chakra.


Contacting your Spirit Guide Part two

The most effective way, of contacting your spirit guide, in particular for beginners is through meditation. There is no secrete to meditation, it's simply a process for slowing down mental activity and focusing ones mind on a particular outcome. For example by focusing your attention on improving your health, wealth or creativity, will in time bring about the desired results. Making time for ourselves is not something we find easy in the hustle and bustle of modern living. Developing your psychic ability doesn't require any special religious practice, high moral or saintly values. It's a skill, and like any other skill it can be learnt, all it takes is perseverance and practice. So spending ten to fifteen minutes a day on stilling the mind is beneficial not just in terms of contacting your spirit guides, but for relaxation and getting in touch with that inner peace and calm that most of us have forgotten. The general idea is to make your meditation a special occasion, so find some where that's quite and where you know you won't be disturbed. Most psychics begin by lighting a candle or an incense stick, or if you prefer say a short prayer of gratitude and protection. Dim the lights and disconnect the phone.

Most meditational techniques require visualisation and using your imagination. It's through creative imagination and the use of symbolism that the link is made to the spirit world. The first stage is to get your self grounded, working with sensitive energies can have an effect of drawing our attention away from our day-to-day lives and it's important for all psychics ( learners and advanced ) to keep themselves grounded or connected with the earth. You can do this by visualising beams of energy coming from your feet and base of the spine, imagine these beams of energy passing deep into the earth. Next, imagine drawing green earth energy back up until it fills your body. In a similar way, imagine a beam of white light coming from high above you. As it reaches the top of your head, let it pass through into your body, filling it, until you become a radiant being of light. If you're familiar with chakras . Imagine the base chakra as a red flower with its petals slowly opening. Move up to the second or sacral chakra which is coloured orange and do the same. Then up to the third and so on until you reach the crown chakra (violet).

Meditation is all about drawing our attention from the outer world to the inner. An effective way to increase your awareness of your spirit guides is to create a special place in your mind where you can meet them. Begin by sitting in a comfortable chair, and away from any distractions. When you feel ready, close your eyes and begin taking three or four deep breaths, letting them out slowly, and as you do this, feel all the stress and concerns of the day leave your body with every breath. Next place your attention on your breathing and notice the sinking feeling that you get on each of the out breaths. Use this as a vehicle to allow yourself to let go and relax even more.

As your body begins to feel more relaxed imagine a gate with a path leading from it, there are no people in sight. The path winds its way through a pasture filled with lush green grass and wild flowers. The sky is blue with just a few fluffy white clouds. Imagine wandering along this path soaking in the scenes that are around you. Try and see if you can sense any fragrances or hear the sounds of birds as you walk slowly along this path. Before you, the pasture begins to gradually slop down hill and leads to a wooded area, which you enter. The floor is covered in blue bells and the sun beams through the branches warming your face and body. You next come to a stream, the water looks so inviting that you take off your shoes and socks and step into the stream, as you do so you feel all the stress and stains of the day just pouring out through the souls of your feet into the stream where they are washed away. As you slowly walk up stream you reach the source of the water, where there's a clearing. The grass is lush and the floor is covered in your favourite flowers. In the centre of the clearing there's a small tree with an old wooden bench besides it. You sit down on the bench and enjoy the beauty of this wonderful place.

This is your private space your inner sanctuary, whenever you visit it you feel comfortable and protected, it is a place where the physical and spiritual worlds meet. Remember that you are in control and you can allow or disallow any one from entering it. It is a place that you have created through the power of your imagination. You can change or alter it to suite yourself. Alternatively, you can create a scenario totally different, for example you may choose to climb a mountain and discover a temple at the top.

As you sit quietly you notice a figure approaching who walks slowly towards you. Notice what the person is wearing, is it male or female, old or young. The person asks if they can sit down besides you. At this point you could ask them a question, and also their name. Don't force the answers, let them come naturally and effortlessly. Quite often the answer comes at a later time, or, when you least expect it. So don't become impatient or disheartened if you don't get an answer first time. Finally, as the person gets up to leave they tell you that they have something for you. You open your hand and they place an object on it. The object is personal to you and will have a symbolic meaning, and it's worth pondering the meaning once you've finished your meditation. As your spirit guide leaves you thank them and say goodbye.

You then make your way back the way you came until you reach the gate. As you do so feel yourself returning back into your body and be aware of the room and sounds around you. Lastly, imagine the flower shaped chakras closing their petals, beginning from the base (red) to the crown (violet). When you feel ready and back to full consciousness open your eyes, stretch and take some deep breaths.

It's quite usual for psychics or any one working with subtle energies to follow up by grounding themselves by eating a snack or having a cup of tea and a biscuit. This has the effect of bringing ones consciousness back into physical awareness. Alternatively walking around or doing some light stretching exercise can have the same effect.

One of the main obstacles in making contact with your spirit guides through meditation is the effect of ones logical mind stepping in and thinking it was all imagination or wishful thinking and not reality. Perseverance and questioning is the key to developing a good sound relationship with your spirit guides. You shouldn't accept everything that your guides say. But it's also interesting to be aware of ones own blind spots, or things that are pointed out to us that we would rather pretend weren't there. For example, our intolerance or refusal to change our point of view in a relationship. Or the need to face up to an issue that may cause disharmony in our lives.

It's not really important as to whether you have a good imagination and can create highly vivid images and scenarios. The image that you create in your mind are representations, it is the intention that counts. The fact that you open up and trust that you where making contact with spirit, is what's important. A lot of psychic communication is based on trust, messages that come through may sound at times ridiculous or silly, but gradually as you become more and more aware of your guides you will begin to trust what they have to say.

It is quite common for psychics to verify the reality of a guide by asking questions that can provide proof of contact. This may mean asking your guide if there is something that you need to be aware of or what is the best way to deal with a particular situation or person. Ask for their assistance during times of change or difficulty, or to present you with opportunities or certain people that you would like to meet. You can also ask messages for friends or relations and check the validity when you next meet them.

The main thing to remember is that this is a joint venture. Your spirit guides will do their bit, but they won't do it all for you, you have to take responsibility for taking action and putting in the hard work. Spirit guides will never interfere with your free will. Manifesting a new car is not a reasonable request, nor winning the lottery. But, asking advice on ways you can best earn enough money to purchase the goods that you would like, is a valid question.

You can also as ask for an indication of your spirit guides presence. For example a physical sensation at a particular time of the day. This may be an involuntary twitch or pins and needles, tingling sensation down the side of your leg or head or the hairs standing up on your arm or leg or a particular area of your head. It is quite common for guides to contact people through dreams. So if you have any questions or would simply like to meet your guides, ask that they show themselves in your dreams. Gradually with perseverance and dedication and last but not least, trusting your intuition, you will be well on your way to developing your psychic powers.

It is refreshing to know that our guides are here to help and support us all the time through their love and compassion. Talk to them and ask for their guidance. Talk to them through your conscious mind, in your dreams and with the help of this meditation. You will come to understand your partnership with your guides or Higher Self and have much Light around you which will multiply with absolute perfection, as is the way of Spirit.

Since this is a special meditation, you may want to prepare your meditation space in a significant and loving way for yourself by creating a peaceful, calm and tranquil atmosphere. If you feel you would like to light a candle or burn some incense that helps create a peaceful space, then do so. Perhaps a white candle or or another coloured candle of your choice. A blanket helps maintain body heat, which can drop considerably whilst doing this work. Some appropriate music also helps set the environment and mood.

It is a good idea to say a prayer first stating your intent and outcome and focusing on your dedication, willingness and trust to get to meet your guides in this special meditation session. Some people like to bring into their meditative space, sacred or personal objects or meaningful symbols to add to the importance and spiritual significance of this meditation event. You may wish to have an altar or area that is able to contain special, sacred or religious objects that hold significance for you.



Once you are relaxed and know you won`t be disturbed - take it nice and slowly.
Try to sense, feel or imagine as much detail as possible as you begin your meditative journey.

Sit in a comfortable position, one that you can sustain for about 30-45 minutes.
Close your eyes and take in a deep cleansing breath. Fill your lungs right up. Then release the breath slowly through your mouth pushing all the air out of your body. Take in several deep breaths through the nose in this way and then imagine, sense or feel yourself being surrounded by golden or white light from the universe and then after a while imagine, sense or feel this golden or white light coming into your lungs and filling your body as you continue deep breathing. This light will protect you and your body and keep you safe during the meditation. You may wish to affirm that you are filled and surrounded by this protecting light and know that it is so.

Now image at the same time all the stress, anxiety, worries, concerns, needless energy and negativity you have within you leaving your body and being carried out to the universe as grey smoke and mixing with and being dispersed by the golden or white light outside of your body where it can no longer do harm to you or anyone. Just relax your entire body and mind. Feel the tension in your muscles begin to let go and drain away.

Focus in the centre of your body and imagine, sense or feel the white or golden light moving up and down your body from this focus point. Imagine the healing of this energy-light as it passes through your muscles and organs and your entire system. Feel the tingling sensations as the light moves down to the tips of your toes and up your body through you neck, shoulders, face and right up to the top of your head. Imagine your entire body being internally cleansed, healed and bathed in this white or golden protecting spiritual light.
Set the positive intention once again by asking your guides and teachers to come to you and to help with the purpose of this mediation. State your positive intention clearly and ask 'God' or `Spirit` to support you with your meditative journey. Don't forget to acknowledge and thank 'God' or `Spirit` for this help and support.
Keep your eyes closed, and get a sense of looking up at the pituitary gland which is no larger than a pea. This is a small gland located in the middle of your forehead, just above the brow. (this is also considered to be the position of your Third Eye or Ajana and governs command, perception, knowledge and authority and its primal relationship is with inner and cosmic knowledge). Try to keep your eyes focused on this point. The muscles around your eyes may become sore as you stretch them upward, so don't over do this at first. As you practice, this step will become easier for you to do.
As you focus on your Third Eye imagine, sense or feel you are standing on a grassy hill. Bring yourself to the very top of the hill and when you are ready to begin to walk down this hill, just do that. Notice, sense or feel or image each step as you walk down the hill. Imagine yourself moving safely and with ease. Use all your senses to experience this descent.
When you are walking along the bottom of the hill feeling very safe, see yourself healthy and carefree and allow your sense of being to be part of this place as it fills your body and mind. Take a moment to imagine or sense it.

Somewhere nearby is a clear, still pond. As you approach the clear, still pond, you notice a mist is forming near it. This mist hugs the earth. Intuitively, you are aware that your guide is approaching and is inviting your soul into this realm of enlightenment. Now reach out your hand into the mist. Be aware of your guide`s hand gently slipping into your own.

The mist begins to clear now and you have the opportunity to meet and see your guide and you know this is so. You can also see the type of clothes they're wearing, the style of their hair and any decorations or adornments they may have. Take it all in and be open to sense their good intentions as well.
Feel their energy surrounding you, both spiritually and physically. You make a mental note of this feeling so that you can recognize it when you return from this meditation and sense your guide and subsequently connect with them during your day-to-day life if appropriate.
Greet your guide. You can ask their name. Just accept whatever comes forth. Ask if he or she has any special advice for you. What lessons you're here to learn or what karma you need to resolve and clear. Ask any questions that you might have. You may even simply just want to only sit with your guide and that is OK. You might invite your guide to be part of your life on a daily basis and consider asking them how you might connect with them during your day-to-day life or ask how they can assist you during your dreams. You might also ask if the guide has a gift for you. Just enjoy it!

When you have concluded your visit, thank them deeply for their gift of service and protection to you and for coming into your awareness today. Say `goodbye` to them in a loving way that feels right for you.

Watch as the mist forms again around them near the clear, still pond. Imagine yourself now moving back from the clear, still pond and the mist and ascending the grassy hill and from there your soul connecting back with your physical body protected by being surrounded and filled with the golden or white light.

As your soul unites back within your body, all the visions, sensations, answers, gift you might have received integrate with your conscious everyday mind and are automatically stored there now for easy assimilation and access.
Now bring your thoughts back to the present and think about the good days to come and take in a deep breath feeling completely at peace. Begin to feel the energy start flowing through your body and become more and more aware of your surroundings as you breathe in wakeful energy and balance your energies. Then open your eyes and enter again into the outside world `The World of Form`....feeling wonderful in every way .
You might wish to record your journey either on audio tape or in a journal before finishing up. If you wish to do this, I would advise doing it immediately while the images, feelings, sounds and experience are still fresh in your mind.
You don't have to just use this mediation for meeting your guides only. You can use it each time you want to connect with them as well making it a regular habit and in doing so, you will become more adept at it.

If you consciously communicate with your guides you have an enormous wealth of resources to tap into. Allowing you to learn about yourself, work through problems and discuss and find solutions for any situation you find yourself in through your life. They are here to love and honor you through their guidance, assistance and insight.
