2012, The Bridge to Infinity - News from Pepper Lewis and Gaia

Dear Friends and Family of Gaia,   We are already one month into 2012, a year that many of us have looked to, waited for and aligned with. What does that look like for you? Does 2012 seem different than other years yet? If so, can you describe how? Are we expecting too much from this larger-than-life year, or not enough? Too soon to tell?   I have been feeling a profound yearning for greater authenticity in all areas of life. My inner 'scout' has been guiding me to new places without, while inviting me to revisit a few well-worn places within - the process has helped to broaden perspectives and diffuse old patterns. It continues to reveal a gentle presence that is quiet, peaceful and contemplative, and includes a true sense of freedom and wellness. I also feel a strong desire to bridge body, mind and spirit - to weave them closer together and work with them as one instead of one at a time. This is working so well that I hope to create an exercise to share with you, based upon these recent experiences.   On the last day of 2011, Gaia said, "Put your shoes on. Go for a walk." So I went to a nearby meadow trail known for preserving plants and trees that are native to this area (see my pictures). I brought along some simple items to perform a ceremony to honor the earth and to invite the energies of the new year into my life. Everything felt so pristine and alive! Words seemed unnecessary and the land already seemed to have everything it needed - kind of when you ask the host of a party what you could bring and they tell you that they already have everything they can think of and more, and you should just come over and enjoy yourself. I asked Gaia, "Is this what you wanted me to see?" Gaia said, "Not exactly. I just wanted you to look in a mirror. Mine is a little more clear than yours."   I would like to offer you that same thought. Our mirrors are a little distorted. They tend to show us a view of our life that is often too much this or too little that, shortsighted, over-crowded, uncomfortable and somehow 'itchy'. The sense of peace and wellbeing I felt as I touched the earth on December 31st is its natural state. It is our natural state too, even when it lies hidden between our responsibility-filled days and behind our busy lives. Gaia doesn't need us to do something for the earth; she needs us to do something for ourselves, which in turn favors all of life. Before I left the park I asked, "Should I make more time for this?" Gaia said, "No! You have all the time in the world. Make space and do not fill it. Make plans and put yourself in them. Make fun and then have some. Try less. Do less. Be more. Make more of the less thing."  ~Pepper

2012, The Bridge to Infinity From Gaia ~ In your own unique way, as guided by the resonant quality of your soul and the desire of the personality that calls you by name, you have crossed another threshold and found yourself in a new year.   You approach an invisible marker in time - one that may as well be chiseled in stone as your imaginations have built a monument to it -- this year has earned a permanent entry in the logbook of your life.   The Mayan elders called 2012 the 'bridge to infinity', a simple term with a double meaning - one that describes the realization of a dream and the other a daydreamer unable to awaken from the dream he invented.   The Mayan elders (not everyone) knew that they were living in a dreamscape - a projection of their own thought creation that made their world appear real in every way. They told their version of the creation story just as you tell yours today, and they believed it as sincerely as you believe yours. And then one day when it was time for the story to come to an end some (not all) of the Maya folded time and took themselves elsewhere. Others walked toward the sun or away from it until they reached another place. And they continued to live as men and women of earth. Your world, a story that is still unfolding, is designed to present changes and challenges. These are meant to stimulate creativity; to keep you awake and aware of the process. The acceleration of time is one of the ways that your mind is triggered to keep up. The stress that you feel, properly aligned, would feel exhilarating and creative. Attempts to manage time with to-do lists and technological advances are a poor substitute for curiosity and adventure. We will treat this subject with an honest approach as the year unfolds, offering suggestions and exercises for mind, body and spirit, as the integration of all three is paramount this year!   See yourself as a celestial body in motion around a sun, or as riders on the back of a giant whale circumnavigating the globe. The journey is a fixed one, stable and well-known to those who have gone before you. It is also new, as each circle or orbit is unique to those who discover what the explorers of long ago learned - that all things change and are rearranged by patterns and forces that are natural and also defy natural law. 2012 is a year to explore, to grow, and to discover. Find courage and bind it with creativity. You will see that they make daytime companions and nighttime lovers - dream! ~ Gaia
