Traditional changes

When you turn 50 we are referring to Abraham and Sara in our tradition, apparently to address the fact you finally know where you will find the truth about a lot of stuff. So when we address the age of 65, there is as far as I know, no similar combination for men and women representing the gifts and qualities they have found, at that respectable age.

So what about Methuselah and his wife Edna, bringing in the wisdom of the elders, a new way of looking at your life. Turning new leaves so to speak, because you no longer have to be a participant part of the working society. Unless you so desire .A new way to represent the elderly knowledge that comes with the age of 65.

Reaching this age today, 65, there is no retirement or pension after all, because for me this will be in 2021, when I reach the age of 66 and 4 months. So that's the new norm for retirement over here in my country.

Life is changing and evolving, which is reflected through the social measures as well. With the social distance rules these days it is even harder to celebrate the birth date on any age.

Like I am able to celebrate my own and blessed with so much loving posts, wishes, flowers and cards, it is not that easy for those who have no family left. Nor can they celebrate with the family they love. Kids can't play with their friends on their birthdays either.

I want to celebrate today, not just because it is my birthday, it is my day of birth 65 years ago. Blessed with the family I grew up in, a big extended family with uncles and aunts, lots of cousins as well. Lots of family gatherings to celebrate the birthdays of my grandparents.

I also want to celebrate the fact that I am doing fine, on my own, after my beloved made his transition 4 years ago, one month before his an my birthdays in April. Being older as he was then, is also a present in its own way. To be a grand mom, to be around to see my kids thrive, my grand kids to grow up.

No traditional birthday party we normally held for our friends and family. Today is a day that is showing that even with all the rules and social distancing, the love energy is so powerful, it flows through every deed, every thought, every thoughtful present.

Does it hurt, yes it does a little. Does it make me feel loved, yes it does a lot. It also makes me feel grateful and blessed.
Never take life for granted, always share your love with your loved ones, on every day. Tell them how much they mean to you, how much you love them and make your heart sing.

It doesn't matter if they live close by or far away, distance wise. The love that flows from heart to heart is an energy, that comes with the speed of light. Will touch yours immediately, and makes theirs feel loved. That' s all that matters, as well all we need to know. To feel safe and supported.

With gratitude and a heart filled I want to thank each and every one of you that have touched my life and my heart with love, understanding, kindness and most of all joy and laughter.
