THE SOUL BODY. The body most closely related to the monadic is called the oversoul in occult literature, otherwise known as the higher self. This, for purposes of this discussion, is the higher soul family to which we belong. Our individual souls spring forth from this oversoul or soul family and hence we have the individual personality, who life and after life, incarnates and reincarnates upon the physical, etheric, astral and mental worlds in order to evolve and build up the soul body with the divine attributes of love, light, tenderness, harmlessness, service, devotion and so forth. The home of the oversoul is upon the budhic plane, which, again, is a plane like unto the four lower planes mentioned before and falls midway between the monadic plane and the physical plane. Occult writing often refer to the budhic plane as the causal plane, for it is indeed the plane from which the cause or purpose of our incarnations originates. Eventually, through the process of reincarnation over vast periods of time, the individualized soul will itself be in direct contact with the monad, sometimes also referred to as the mighty I Am presence.
