The USA has become an adolescent

We are growing up

This week the media reports

We have discovered morals

Not platitudes, but real morals

Woman's rights

Is the latest issue to ignite

Our voices are being heard

It's a sexy issue

Good for publicity

So many stories in the air

Women are being acknowledged

As the sovereign owners

Of their bodies

This is the latest of so many issues

Race, gender and children

The barriers to rights are coming down

What is different this time

Is that women's rights

Belong to all of us

Men, women

Church, nonchurch

Political right and left

All of us are effected

Our hearts are touched

Our Spirit unites us

Our nation

Has discovered morals

I am truly thankful

We are growing up

Perhaps we are still a long way from understanding real morals. But, the US is having a period of looking into the mirror and seeing our reflection more clearly. This latest view is causing some real change with women's rights.

May we keep the mirror polished. We still have a long way to go.
