PAST IS DEAD AND GONE, AND FUTURE IS YET TO COME, SO LIVE THE PRESENT:- The future is like a checkerboard grid. The grid is in place but most of the squares are not filled in. They are filled in by your free choice. “Stand up, be bold, be strong. Take the whole responsibility on your own shoulders, and know that you are the creator of your own destiny. All the strength and succor you want is within yourself, make your own future” (Swami Vivekananda)” Each man carries his or her destiny in his own hands,” as Sai Baba said. Excitement is looking forward to the future. Worry is dreading the future. All that really exists, in truth, is the Eternal NOW. So we no longer have to be victimized by our past or by a worrisome future because it is all within out own mind. The proper attitude toward the past is to gain the golden nuggets of wisdom from the mistakes and from what we have done well, bring forth the positive memories we choose to keep, and release the rest. In Disney’s The Lion King, Rafikki said to Simba, “The past, eh? The way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it.” In terms of the future, the proper perspective is to create a plan for the future that serves us, and then leave the rest to God. The future is totally under your control. Remember the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “People become what they expect themselves to become.” The attitude today is the root on which the future grows – said Sai Baba. Why worry when you can pray, own your personal power, and do affirmation and visualization to attract everything you need? As an old adage says, “Master your past in the present, or your past will master your future.” Or as Lord Buddha said, “ The past should not be followed after and the future not desired; what is past is dead and gone and the future is yet to come.
