GOD IS INFINITE, AND IN POTENTIAL ENCOMPASSES AN INFINITE NUMBER OF BASIC CONCEPTS:- The Jewish mystics developed around Ein Sof and the sefirot a religious language rich symbols and imagery. Kabbalists have used many synonyms for the sefirot, including light, names, stages, crowns, mirrors, pillars, powers, garments, gates, sources and inner faces of God. Each name describes another aspect of the nature and function of the sefirot. Some Kabbalists say the word sefort comes from the Hebrew sappir (“sapphire” or sparkling lights”) because the sefirot illumine us about God. Others say sefirot derives from the Hebrew saper (“to tell”), meaning that they tell us about God.
The word Sefirot, has three basic connotations: (1) to declare or express, (2) to record or decree, and (3) to delineate or count.
The first function of the sefirot is to express God’s greatness. Through them we can meditate on God and speak to Him. Secondly, It is through the sefirot that God expresses His Providence over creation, issuing decree and recording events. It is in this context that the sefirot are God’s Book…
