Unity Redefined

I sit under cloudless blue sky, listening to the sound change brought by the autumn.  I can hear the slight differences in the echoes though the crisp, darker fall air.  I can
see the dimness in the late afternoon light. 
I can smell the thought of fireplaces keeping the harsh winter winds at
bay.  It is this time of day, and this
season that reminds me of the nature of Unity.  
Take a walk with me and lose yourself in a moment, and I will show you
what Unity means to me.

 

The sky under these conditions is one constant shade of perfect sky blue.  This is the color blue that shows why it is considered a color of blessing.  It is
defined by the range of beginning fall colors. 
No oranges or reds, only different stages of greens and yellows.  Give it a week, and the full extent of colors
should become obvious.  There are many
different types of trees.  What humans
call them is of no matter; it does not depict their personalities in ways that
do them justice.  In the interest of
clarity, I will simplify.

 

There are the ones I will call the keepers of seasons.  This would be your range of evergreens. 
They are keenly aware of the changes throughout the year and are the
watchers for the other trees.  Then there
are the temperamental ones.  They take
only slight weather shifts to send them into hibernation (I suppose the tree
version of denial).  Then there are the
sturdy late leaf droppers.  They hold on
until the last moment before winter sets in and then succumb to the long, cold
sleep of the harsher season. 

 

All of them have a place against that blue sky.  Once in a while, it may gather some shades of grey and black and throw down fire and
water upon the masses, but the ones who stand strong will persevere to pass on
those strengths and lessons to the next generation of saplings.  

 

It is Unity in full view out there every day.  The human society is the sky, and the whole of mankind are the trees against the
sky.  You see that despite the adversity
that society must face, the whole of mankind each has its place in the changes
that are inevitable.  But Unity is using
the whole picture, everyone working at their proper place in the forest, to
make the forest grow and flourish despite the different kinds of vegetation
that chose to take root.  Unity is
knowing that you all have the same sky against you, but if you hold tight to
the root system together, you will find that the rain can never wash away that
which is built in Unity.  It can only
cleanse the forest.
