You are being taken to places where you are needed

During the process of writing The Bridge, I have had to be a guinea pig of sorts, as I put these inspiring messages to work in my own daily life. After all, what good would they be if they haven't been tried and tested. In other words, I've had to walk my talk, and it took me to some surprising places along the way.

There are too many stories to tell all of them here, but suffice it to say that I started out by writing the first 30 Bridge messages last winter at home, in my little office, overlooking the snow capped Rockies in the 4 corners region of Colorado. About that time, with the temperature dropping toward zero, my wandering spirit got the best of me and I took off down the road, not knowing where my next stop or next dollar was coming from. All I had was my 95 Dodge Van and my trust.

After a few days in Tucson with my close friends, Tim and Victoria, I headed west to the coast for some beach time and, as I was driving across the southern Arizona desert, I got a call from my friend, Brenda, in San Diego, who happened to mention that her sister had a place there that was empty - if I was interested. I said yes and the next day, after sleeping in the van that night and bathing at the beach showers in LaJolla, I drove up to Escondido where Brenda's sister lived. It turned out to be an estate with all the trimmings! Fifty acres of avocado trees, a huge pool and Jacuzzi, and all the fruit I could eat.

I ended up staying there over a month, writing The Bridge Messages in the mornings and driving to the beach in Encinitas every afternoon. Then one morning I received an email from an Intender up in the hills above LA, and the long and short of it was that she and her husband were in the movie business - he is a successful screenwriter and she turned out to be an actress I'd seen on TV - and they invited me to come and visit with them and present a workshop for their friends.

Feeling a little foolish for even considering leaving the lavish mountaintop estate in Escondido, I packed my things and drove north to Topanga Canyon. For me, this was just too synchronistic to pass up because my guidance had said, many times over the years, that I would eventually be making movies of my books and workshops.

It turned out that my new friends lived in a mini-castle atop a gorgeous mesa above Topanga Canyon on a 17 acre ranch. After presenting my workshop, they invited me to stay longer so I could continue my writing. In short, it was paradise. I became part of the family and got to walk the magnificent beach at Malibu every afternoon. While I was there, I wrote another 25 messages for The Bridge and also penned an entire screenplay called The Solution which is filled with stories from my latest book, The Code: Ten Intentions for a Better World.

Toward the end of my stay in Topanga, The Bridge started getting popular and phone calls began coming in from Georgia and Florida asking if I would like to present workshops there. I agreed and called my girlfriend, Vicki, and she joined me for the remainder of my time in California. She even brought along my manx cat, Puddy, and the three of us decided to make an adventure of it all (as if it wasn't adventurous enough already) by camping at several beaches before driving across the country.

As you can see, life was good, even though we still never quite knew where our next resources were coming from. We were told to do what we loved to do and to spend what we had and it would be replaced, perhaps from sources we hadn't even expected. So that's exactly what we did. We camped, ate at the little beach shacks along the coast, and had a blast! The high point for Vicki was one evening at sunset when we sat next to Matthew McConaughey at an outdoor seafood café in Malibu.

Our travels then took us across the country, to Atlanta for a Humanity's Team conference, and down to the southern tip of Florida by way of Disneyworld and Universal Studios. Camping and staying in Motel 6s (because they allow cats), we ended our tour by traveling up the east coast to visit Vicki's mother in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country in Reading, PA.

And that's where I am now, living on the side of beautiful Mt. Penn, looking out at its mystical Pagoda that sits, like a throw-back from another world, at the top. I've written another 3 dozen Bridge Messages here and, in three days, we head up to Canada for more workshops, and then back home to Colorado.

Anyway . . . I thought you'd like to know what's been happening to me as a result of putting these teachings to work in my life. I can tell you that from the mountaintop estate in San Diego, to the crystal mines of Arkansas, to the water slides at Universal Studios, Florida, it has been a wonderful ride. So far, everything I've needed has come to me, and if the abundance of grateful emails I've received is any indication, I've helped a lot of people along the way. Admittedly, there were times when I didn't have the slightest idea how we would come up with the money for gas or a motel room, but these things always appeared, although sometimes at the last minute. The only guideline I'm following is that I'm doing what I love to do and living my calling at the same time. As a result, my life is a constant adventure, and now that I've gotten used to it, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Now, all I have to do is keep intending, letting go of my old ways, and stay connected to The Highest Good. The Highest Good seems to want me to have a grand time, and so far, so good. If, however, I find myself working the night shift in a pizza place somewhere on the outskirts of Durango, that'll be okay too.

My Intention for today is:

I Intend that I am following my calling and doing what I love to do at the same time.
