Understanding the Mayan Suns of the West

With the beginning of the new Gregorian year we find ourselves looking to the future for what the new year will bring. We reflect on what has been learned and look forward to what will be. In this way we begin to initiate the creative process for the coming year by integrating the past and visualizing the future. This action activates deep transformations, facilitating the creation of new intentions.

The Suns that represent the West activate these deep transformations. In Mayan tradition the West is considered the direction of the dying God yet is also a place of peaceful repose. West is a place where the light enters darkness, a place where inspiration is born and worlds are created. West is a place where we loose our egos and begin to merge with the greater whole. We may find ourselves concerned with our relations with others. Problems with cooperation may need to be addressed, and compromises made in relationships may need to be reconsidered during these days. The Suns of the West are for spiritual speed freaks that are always striving for transformation. It is a constant internal pressure to activate the transformation process and to evolve.

The Mayan word for West is Chik'in and is represented by the color blue. The five sacred Suns of the Mayan calendar hold this common theme of the West. These are the suns AKBAL, MANIK, CHUEN, MEN and CAUAC.

Understanding the Mayan Suns of the West

MEN- men - Eagle - Men operates from the emotional or physic world. It expresses information that it receives. The chakra associated with this Sun is the crown chakra. It's element is Earth, and its planet is Jupiter. Men is independent and ambitious. Within its independent nature it uses escapism to cope will controlling situations. It is scientific or technically inclined as it exhibits a critical and exacting nature. Men has unique ideas about life. Its challenge is to accept its unusual relationship patterns. It does well when Men cultivates friendships that place high value on personal freedom.

TZ'IKIN = Men. Bird of power. Liaison between Sun and Earth.

MEN- men - Eagle - West/Blue - Emotional/Physic; crown chakra; Earth.

Independent, ambitious and escapist. Scientific, Technical, critical, exacting.

Has unique ideas about life.

#2. Ca (Polarity; Duality; Separation of the light from the dark) When we move into the second phase of creation we begin to separate the energy we collected in #1. The Maya Call this "Ca". This is the phase where polarity is born. In the grand scheme of creation, this is where the light was separated from the dark. We begin to separate the unity of source to create a diverse and creative universe. This necessary dualistic friction of the opposites, create a "cosmic heat" in which to create from.

2 KIEB = Polarized but in balance.

2 energies, positive and negative.

Additional Thoughts and Insights

 

MEN 2: Blue Lunar Eagle

 

Blue refers to the sign being a sign of the WEST. Lunar refers to the number 2 - shich indicates polarity and asks us to find the bance between light and darkness, good and bad, up and down ... As above so below might be a good reminder for today!

 

MEN, the eagle, tells us about the advantages of shifting our perspective from the mundane to the higher points of view. The eagle brings hope into our life. Believe in yourself, your dreams and visions and do what is necessary to bring them into existence.

 

Today is a good day for reflection. What do you see when you look into the mirror? Do you like what you see? If not, have a closer look - see the beauty in your face and beauty: it reflects your love and light - but they are hidden beneath the obvious ... are you ready to shift your perspective as to see and accept your beauty and the beatuy of the world and people around you?

 

Interestingly enough, MEN does not only mean the eagle but it is also the spider's web! Its colour is lavender and one if its symbols is the Violet Flame ...

 

Today remember what you have come here to do. Opening your third eye can help you to better see your place in the web of all things. Take some time for yourself today and remember how important it is to relax and gather power. You cannot just give - it is imperative that you connect to source to gain the power and strentgh you need to do what you have come here to do. Through healing yourself - you are healing the world.  Today do not try to save anyone else - you are connected to all that is and thus whatever you do for yourself you do for everyone else as well. Keep the balance :-)
