Understanding the Mayan Suns of the West

With the beginning of the new Gregorian year we find ourselves looking to the future for what the new year will bring. We reflect on what has been learned and look forward to what will be. In this way we begin to initiate the creative process for the coming year by integrating the past and visualizing the future. This action activates deep transformations, facilitating the creation of new intentions.

The Suns that represent the West activate these deep transformations. In Mayan tradition the West is considered the direction of the dying God yet is also a place of peaceful repose. West is a place where the light enters darkness, a place where inspiration is born and worlds are created. West is a place where we loose our egos and begin to merge with the greater whole. We may find ourselves concerned with our relations with others. Problems with cooperation may need to be addressed, and compromises made in relationships may need to be reconsidered during these days. The Suns of the West are for spiritual speed freaks that are always striving for transformation. It is a constant internal pressure to activate the transformation process and to evolve.

The Mayan word for West is Chik'in and is represented by the color blue. The five sacred Suns of the Mayan calendar hold this common theme of the West. These are the suns AKBAL, MANIK, CHUEN, MEN and CAUAC.

Understanding the Mayan Suns of the West

MANIK- man eek’ - Hand - Manik lives in the world of reason, the mental world. It is the Sun that remembers and transduces information to a more accessible form. It is represented by the heart chakra. Its element is Earth and the Earth is also the planet it is associated with. Manik is a peaceful, generous sun that show skills in cooperative ventures. It can be very artistic and inspiring to others. Manik can be nomadic, outspoken, and quite individualistic, yet it needs companionship. Understandably its challenges involve handling the contradictory needs of personal freedom and relationship security. It finds it does well by learning to become comfortable with its own individuality, no matter how strange that may be.

 

KIEJ = Manik. Energy of forests. Can give or receive deception.

Peaceful, generous, cooperative, artistic, inspiring, nomadic, outspoken,

individualistic.

#7 Uc (Resonance; a place between the spirit and the body of creation; The center of creative pulse.) The number 7 is like a two sided mirror. Number 7 lives between two worlds. It is an invisible doorway to the realm of physical reality. It is neither spirit or the body of creation, yet it is both. #7 is the converging point between the past and the future.

Blue Resonant Hand: Blue refers to the quality of the west which this sign embodies and resonant stands for the number 7. The number seven represents the peak of the wave of 13 days - it is the top of the pyramid, the point towards which all the energies of the days before have pointed; and this is HEALING.

 

MANIK means "deer" in Englisch and ishas a lot to do with understanding. In German the word "understand" is "be-greifen" and "greifen" means to touch something. Hence Manik is often translated as "hand". It indicates the process of understanding something through DOING it.

 

Part of Manik's lesson is to complete what you have begun. It may help you to realize that each tiny step is bringing you closer to your goal and you can draw power from this realization. Celebrate the tiny steps.

 

Today we have reached a climax. The following 6 days will show a decline in energy. The end point of this wave is Ben 13. This is where all the energies of this wave which lasts for 13 days go: Ben is the time traveller and with Ben comes the realization that HEAVEN is where you ARE ... to feel your SELF is the anchor which allows you to savely time travel. Today all the healing which is necessary to reach this goal can take place.

 

Manik 7 is about reaching BALANCE. Balance between the need to be with your friends and to be recognized by them and your family - and the knowledge that no matter what others may say YOU ARE PERFECT just as you ARE!

The feedback of others is often very helpful to get us on tack again. Sometimes we are lost in ego structures and our friends will tell us so. n the other hand: if they do not see what you have already sccomplished, recognize yourself for all that you have done, for all that you like about yourself. Don#t become dependent on other people's opinion about you! You give the best - and no one can ever expect more of you than just this.

Manik is also about finding out how much importance you give to your spiritual tools. Crystals, prayer sticks, tarot cards ... they are all but TOOLS to help you see more clearly what you already know, to help you focus your attention on the goal you want to reach, to help you get into the energy, the state of consciousness which is necessary for your spiritual work. If you do not have these tools, it may take a bit longer - but all you need is inside of you! Today is a good day to find out how much you identify with your tools ...

 

Today bring your attention into the NOW moment - and don't forget YOU ARE the tool, YOU ARE the portal of light ... Past and Future meet in the now moment. Today you can heal the past by being present in the NOW.

 

Regard all that is happening today as a TEST - and find the best solution!
