Earthquakes in Arkansas

Hi, All,
Just wondering if you all have noticed the activity on the New Madrid fault,
especially in Arkansas around Guy and Searcy.
They have had one as large as a 4.4 the last couple of days. Hundreds of
smaller, some in the 3.0 and up range. Just had another 3.5 around 5 this
morning.
My sister in North Louisiana called me last night quite upset. The local
news channel out of Shreveport has deemed it necessary to add a quake alert
to the weather news.
Now, I was raised up there and we NEVER had a Quake alert feature on the
news. In fact, they never even mentioned quakes unless it was a huge one
somewhere in the world.
I suggest all that live along the New Madrid be vigilant.
The New Madrid runs down the Miss River and the river is just a few miles
from my home.

BRIGHT SOLAR FLARE: Active sunspot 1121 has just unleashed one of the brightest x-ray solar flares in several years, an M5.4-class eruption at 15:36 UT on Nov. 6th. Radiation from the flare created a wave of ionization in Earth's upper atmosphere that altered the propagation of low-frequency radio waves. There was, however, no bright CME (plasma cloud) hurled in our direction, so the event is unlikely to produce auroras in the nights ahead. Visit http://spaceweather.com
for a movie of the eruption and more information about this increasingly active sunspot.
