Yes, it seems to me that these two things of not burning a candle near a window and and the veils thinning at Halloween are connected.

It is said that this is the time for humans to clear all past issues with those who have come before us. It is the perfect time to contact our Ancestors and ask for their help, offering our help in return.

We light candles in pumpkins outside our door - and it is said that these protect us. I have no idea if these old traditions make sense or not - but what I am gathering is that it was seen as wise to light candles outside the house to distract malevolent ghosts - and not to light any near a window as to not attract them into the house.

Most of us no longer believe in ghosts like this ... for me it is really more about getting into contact with my Ancestors and learning more about their gods ;-)

Regarding your question about whether Flower and Animal Essences are the same the answer is that the Flower Essences such as those of Dr Bach but also other types of Flower Essences contain the healing vibrations of flowers, buds or plant parts, whereas the Animal Essences contain the healing vibrations of the energy of different animal spirits!
